Far East Flora Unveils an 11-Storey Floral Shopping Mall
Nature lovers and gardening enthusiasts have a new destination to explore with the grand opening of an 11-storey floral-themed shopping mall, courtesy of the renowned florist chain, Far East Flora. Nestled in Clementi, adjacent to the Singapore University of Social Sciences, the Far East Flora Centre offers a vast selection of over 1,000 types of flowers, more than 500 plant varieties, gardening products, and stylish home decor items. In addition, the garden center features a cold warehouse offering fresh flowers, fruits, and vegetables at wholesale prices. The mall’s exterior showcases lush greenery spilling from its balconies, setting the stage for a botanical wonderland inside. The rooftop garden is home to larger plants and edibles, while a dedicated studio hosts workshops, a gourmet grocery store beckons, and an 80-seat eatery awaits diners amidst natural beauty.
Beyond its retail offerings, the Far East Flora Centre also serves as the headquarters for the 58-year-old retailer, occupying three floors of the building. This visionary concept is the brainchild of Far East Flora’s founder, Mr. Danny Cheok, who sought to redefine the traditional plant nursery model. Instead of a mere selection of potted plants and gardening merchandise, the center aims to provide visitors with an opportunity to connect with nature, seek inspiration for their green sanctuaries, and enjoy the rewards of plant care. The grand opening of the garden center was graced by Holland-Bukit Timah GRC MP Sim Ann, celebrating this momentous occasion in a community known for its gardening enthusiasts. The journey to this groundbreaking venture was marked by determination, as Mr. Cheok’s vision found a permanent home on freehold land at 435 Clementi Road in 2017.
Inspired by garden centers worldwide, Mr. Cheok recognized the growing interest in gardening, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, when people sought solace in tending to plants while working from home. Sustainability is at the core of the building’s design, with rainwater harnessed for the plants and energy-efficient lighting solutions. High-volume, low-speed fans are employed to reduce the need for air conditioning. The Far East Flora Centre kicked off its opening weekend with workshops on mini succulents and flower arrangements, offering visitors opportunities for learning and exploration. Exciting promotions and deals on plants and flowers are also available from September 30 to October 31. The center welcomes visitors daily from 8 am to 9 pm. This remarkable floral haven reflects the enduring appeal of nature and gardening, providing a space for enthusiasts to connect, learn, and immerse themselves in the wonders of the natural world. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore this verdant paradise!
